Default Catchin' A Few Below Nimrod Dam

Right now the C.O.E. is running a lot of water out of Nimrod. It's pretty swift but theres a lot of eddys of calmer water. Guys said that they bit better this morning...go figure
Was doing OK on Black/Chart. tube under a cork but switched to "Meatgetter Jigs" and started getting more bites and better fish. Didn't catch a bucketful but had fun.
May go again tomorrow after physical therapy for my knee. Have to really watch trying to go down the new rip rocks as some of them are loose. Son helped me today but I may be alone tomorrow. I'll just have to be extra careful. Don't want to fall 3 weeks after surgery!

Please be very careful, they are really turning some water loose through that dam right now. I have been on the lake quite a bit lately duck hunting and the water has been higher than I can ever remember seeing it. It was up to 366 last week. They pulled it down a couple of foot but it's raining again now so back up she goes.

Here's a photo of the river bridge I took just over a week ago. The water should be running under it not through it banghead As you can see the debris was really bad. It was like running a boating obstacle course!

Wow, neat pic of the iron bridge. I've never seen it with water over it!

I saw it that way in 96 I believe it was,,could have ran a boat over it...lol

You need to rethink fishing below Nimrod,,just saying,, that place is dangerous for a young man...I have slipped in a couple of times when I was younger....no way I'd try it today..

Alot more dangerous since parts of the banks rip rapped with big rock. Can't believe Slabbandit would even try to walk on them.

I was living in Hollis in 1982 when the big flood came in Dec. It washed away the one lane bridge above Lake Nimrod on the Fourche, I wonder if they put in another bridge ?
