Hey Creek - How do you keep your cooler so clean. You make me feel lazy when I look at mine
Creek I listen to you on here talking about longlining all the time and it interests me. Could you elaborate a little, or a lot, about longlining. What size line, what size jigs, how fast you troll, how many lines, how far you cast or any other questions you might could answer. I kayak fish and can had pretty good luck trolling cranks this summer. I would troll a 7' rod and a 9' rod on each side of the kayak at a time using 10# powerpro.
Line 20/6 power pro braid
1/8 and 1/4 oz round head jigs and roadrunners. Some hand tied, some curly tails, some tubes
Speed 0.7-1.0
I will use 8-12 lines depending on the number of hang up.
I just make a long cast behind the boat.
I use a 16',12',8',4.5' on each side and 4-4.5 across the back.
When longlining you can not stop so when you get hung just grab the rod out of the holder and hold the spool ans straighten the hook reel in re-bend the hook and cast back out.

Creek at 1 mph and a 1/8 z jigs what depth do you think your jig is and how much deeper will a 1/4 oz jig run? Do roadrunners run deeper or shallower? So you use light wire jigs or regular to longline?
That's a good cooler of fish and those trash fish were fun too I bet.Thumbs Up Nothing quite like longlining for sure! Congrats.![]()
Thanks Creek that will help to get me started. I'll let you know how it turns out if I can go this weekend.
