If you want to catch them in the summer months Billy told you right, get some cranks. I see the ones on this post are blacks and the ones from the other post are whites, did they come from the same lake? The reason I ask is that you don't catch many blacks on cranks.

Creekslick the fish are from two different lakes. The blacks actually came from a creek above a small lake and the whites came from a much larger lake with a deep creek 30-40' (deep around here anyway).

The deep lake with the white would be the place to try to pull cranks.

Novice question here, when your trolling crankbaits for crappie, are you catching supended fish over cover, ie: brush piles..or schools of roaming crappie? Same question with longlineing them with jigs>?

I have caught supended crappie casting to them over obvious structure,,but never did any longlineing..or pulling cranks for crappie.

That's a couple of great looking catches SLB. Congrats on figuring them out! PM's never get looked at sometimes, especially when theyre sent to people that hardly ever get a PM...it's like some people just never look..:rolleyes: I caught fish 12 mos a year for the past 3 or 4 years longlining jigs. Even when our water temps are 90+ degrees. This summer I tried minnows when it got really slow for longlining but the minnow bite wasnt much bettter than the jig bite for me. It lasted for a couple/three weeks and then it started back again. Before I started longlining jigs I was spider rigging minnows and did quite well fishing the minnows aout 1'-2' off the bottom on flats about 15' deep fishing early in the morning hours during the hotter months.


BTW, nobody really thinks youre showing out. Just keep posting those good reports!Thumbs Up
