Default Give us some tips for fall fishing Dardanelle

For the experts of Dardanelle or others lake for that matter. What can the crappie be expected to do in the fall on Dardanelle? Will they go shallow or up creeks or? I've never fished much in the fall b/c I was too busy hunting but I think this year I will try a little B/c my family loves to eat crappie.

Im not an expert for sure cuz Im having trouble getting a pattern on them myself. I am thinking that they are suspending over deep water cause the shad are thick there. There is no need for them to hid in brush waiting to ambush them. From some of my recent catches, I have decided that I have been fishing under the crappie. I caught a most of them while raising my jig up and over something, sometimes only being a foot or two deep. Good Luck

rtark, you might wanna try casting for them.. i think they get spooked a little when theyre that shallow over deeper water and a roadrunner of beetle spin might be the ticket

Here the fish are deep. We fished 10 to 12' most of today on Nimrod. With blue bird skies and fronts passing the will go deep. But catch the right weather like cloud cover or before a rain front they could move up shallow. Watch for the Shad and the fish should be nearby.

Find the bait and you found the fish. Notice the depth the bait suspends at and get your hooks there...atleast that's what works here.Thumbs Up

Here it seems the shad are everywhere. Last time I was out were schools of them all over the place.
