I can't stand it anymore.... Headed to Paradise in the morning. Mississippi still a bit high but will be at 33' in the morning at Arkansas City. I will take some photos of levee break and post tomorrow.
I proved to myself that I am still a Rookie at crappie fishing this weekend. Went to Bussey Brake Bayou, D'arbonne and Merisach this weekend and ended up catching 1 bass and 1 catfish. I think I could have stuffed both of them in a single sardine can..... This was my first trip to these lakes maybe next time I will do better.
What's a good water level on the Mississippi for fishing Paradise Lake?
about 40ft and slow falling- anything below 30-32ft and it is hard to put a boat in at rowdy bend. That doesnt mean the fishing isnt good. its just hard to get there if you are not a member of the huntin clubs close by. here are a few pics

Thanks. Are those pictures of the put in, the lake or the channel to the lake?
Do not how to tell you this,But thats the Levee! it will be a long time before paradise is right
Same pictures I took today Levee Jumper. It looks like a sand bar now instead of a levee. Mark Twain said it best "The Mississippi River will always have its own way; no engineering skill can persuade it to do otherwise..." Water was flowing in pretty good from the Miss today. I have alway heard that it is best fishing when the Miss is between 19' and 25' at AR City. That may have changed this year due to the levee being washed into the lake.
I use the greenville gauge. Not sure about the ark. City. Gauge. I think I'm heartbroke over loosen one of my favorite honey holes. Been going in there since I was a kid!
When the river is too low at Rowdy Bend we put in at Warfield Park which is across the bridge and go in from the river. We have put in at the casinos and gone from there also. We like Paradise when it is 24-32 ft at Greenville.....28 ft on a slow fall seems to be the magic number and is perfect. If it gets any lower than 24 ft it is hard to get our boats thru the canal. Then we most likely head for Ferguson or Lee or drive on down to Washington. I'm just sick over that Paradise levee. That was a lake that really lived up to it's name and was one of my all time favorites.
From the ARK-LA-MISS Delta....... Crappie Paradise ! ! ! !
Here are a couple of pictures I took from the air of Lake Paradise on 05/08/11. As you can see the levee was still intact at that time. My Nikon got drowned in Lake Pine Bluff a couple of weeks ago but when my new camera arrives I will get some new closeup aerial photos and post them. I will also get pics of Lee.
