    Default Lake Maumelle Advice


    Any advice on where to fish in Lake Maumelle? Don't have a GPS but could use google maps on an iphone...new at fishing Lake Maumelle and need advice and help, just started docking boat at Jolly Roger and have no idea where to fish that lake....

    Best advice I could give a person about lake maumelle is to spend the extra 30 minutes it takes to drive up I-40 to get to lake conway then start fishing. I have no good experiences or advice to contribute about that lake, I personally have never been impressed or enthused with lake maumelle. Seems to me that the fish in that lake refuse to grow up to be very big. But thats just my opinion, I am sure there are others on here that can lead you in the right direction.

    Get you some light colored Bandit 300 crankbaits and start pulling them around at just under 2 mph. They have an app for that. I also believe that you can buy for about ten bucks, the Navionic lake app too.

    You can also get the Motion GPS app and start marking spots. Fish the PVC trees that the Game and Fish put in. Good bream and crappie around them. That lake has a lot of big bream in it. 20-25 ft on the bottom with crickets.

    This time of year fishing on Maumelle gets tough...the fish push deep and the best days are spent fishing around brush piles submerged deep in the lake. So if you wanna take time to find them with your graph then you can eventually find the fish. Heading to lake conway instead is probably the best advice I have heard for this time of year.

    lake maumell has tons of good fish..in the heat of summer i like to troll 300's around channels and flats.. also, for some dang exciting fishing, chase the white bass schools with a white rooster tail or a cc spoon early and late in the day. And yes, slipcork is dead on about the giant bream out there...I'll probably start an argument here but I catch better bream in maumell than i do in Conway. Red worms and crickets on drop shot rig....deeper for the keeper~
    That navionics ap for the i-phone will definatly help you locate channels and humps.. worth the $ for sure.. (unless ya got a chartplotter!)
