Nice looking jigs. I only spider rig so I generally only use rubber jigs like Bobby Garland, Midsouth, Southern Pro, ect. I have lots of buddies that use the hair jigs regularly though when fishing the trees and tops.

Just wouldn't be feasable. I am sometimes constantly changing colors looking for the "sweet spot" that those large slabs just cannot let go by them even when they are not hungry. I need to be able to do that without retying. I would hate to have to take the time to retie anywhere from 20-100 jigs during a fishing trip. I can change out a jighead with loop knot in about 30 seconds for the entire process but I can change out the jig colors on all 8 rods in that same about of time. Plus the sheer number of hair jigs one would have to have in inventory would be enormous. I am not saying that fish can't be caught trolling with hair jigs because they can if you have the color, size and style/type the fish want on that particular lake and at that particular time. I have a great friend in Hamburg who has been tying his own jigs for himself and others for many years and is very very good at it. He has an entire room set up for it and has thousands of dollars invested in materials in materials. He is a purist and even pours his own lead for all the different jigheads with upteen different types of hooks. Some of the SE Ark fishermen know who I am speaking of. But I have even heard him make the statement, "Give me rubber for the open water but when fishing the trees it has to be hair"!!! If hair would outfish rubber while trolling believe me this man would be doing it!

luvpt said it sweet, im going out on a limb here, his name is jimmy mac! one of the best crappie fisherman in the state, he has been makin em for years and darn good too. his sayin is in the open use rubber but in the trees hair all the way! i used a few hair jigs a fellow gave me on yellow lake trolling one time and to say the least i caught 10 to 1 on the same lead, color nibble, and hook using rubber. just from a troller!
Not trying to slam the rubber, guys..... I'm just a hair guy.

I am not know expert but rubber seems to work pretty good for me. I even tie my own jigs and use them but good points have been made about both. I guess you could use a snap to change out the hair jig but like said you would have to have a big inventory. I am liking the rubber jigs myself more and more. Not using minnows either. I have fished with minnows but so far the jigs are outfishing the minnows and with less hassel.
Love that red head with black and white body and the black and chartruse also.
