    Hey LM, I made my rod holders myself about 7 years ago, but to lighten them up I made mine out of 3/4'' copper pipe, I soldered them together then I drilled holes thru the copper to mount my holders, light weight extremely durable, will not rust, I wanted my rod holder to be chrome/brushed aluminum as well so I wiped the copper with flux and coated the entire thing with solder, then took a peice of sand cloth and rubbed the holder down which made it look like it was made out of brushed aluminum.
    You can't beat the taste of them ole fried SLABS N TATERS!!

    That sounds pretty. Might try something like that on version #2

    Where did you get those slide brackets?
    I had a friend bend them . they are 1/8 in aluminum. I took a thin piece and drew it out where the star would fit on top and he did rest. I put 1/4 in gas hose on lip with silicone to keep rattle down.
