Yes minners for trout will work. I know some folks who win tournaments with minners.

Done quite a bit of trout fishing on the White River for years but never have seen anyone fish with a minnow. If the big browns gorge themselves on the shad kill at the dam, I guess they'd bite a shiner downstream. I'm gonna give it a try in probably July or August when the flow slows down!!!

heck with minnows. Catch you a bucket of sculpins. have a friend that baits the smallest hooks with a tiny piece of worm and drops into the rocks where the Norfork runs into the white. Fishes the cracks in the rocks where the sculpins hide.In just a few minutes he will have a dozen sculpins about 2 and 1/2 inces long. Maybe 3 inches. He turns those into some big old brown trout.

Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

i don't think it's at it's highest level ever yet. i've seen it go over the spillway at the dam. it is now at 576.3. that's only about 15 ft up from normal. it may get there and i agree with you. the fishing below the dam will be messed up. it wouldn't surprise me that the lake is muddy or getting that way.

This is true...I've used Donald Cranor as a guide for several years, and his favorite bait is minnows. One time I caught a 27" brown on a minnow, and my brother has caught a 29" rainbow on a minnow. Sculpins work well also, but they're difficult to catch in high water.
