I set up camp in Laroache Ridge for a family get together type weekend. We had 4 spots reserved and more people arrived Saturday. I was the cook for about 45.
I sure am glad I took some crappie with me. I only caught 8 fish all week end. But, they were nice. I was sure the biggest one was going on the wall. But, she was 5 onz short at 2.5 lbs. ; 16 3/4 inches.
I never did pattern them. I caught some dinks in the spawing areas and not too many of those. So, I went to my tried and true method of dragging Cranks. The most productive area was the east end of the chute on Goat Island and between Goat Island and the Dolly Partons in 20 to 30 feet. I will try some pictures when the wife sends them to me.
Me and about 1/2 dozen or so crappie fishermen sure appreciate the consideration the !@#$% bass fishermen had all during the day when they blew through us at 90 MPH during the bass tournament. Totally uncalled for.
