    Default Where are the crappie!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Ok guys, seriously.....where are they? I have fished nearly every weekend for a month and a half now and between all the trips, I have caught 10 crappie with only one being over a pound. We fished Lake Brewer last weekend and caught 4 crappie. Before that it was Lake Dardenelle and in two days between three of us we caught 15. Even before that we fished Beaverfork and caught one. Today we fished Lake Nimrod and caught 4 keepers. We haven't missed the spawn have we? Surely not with the way these temps have been. We are planning on camping next weekend at Sunlight Bay and fishing Nimrod again. I've talked to alot of guys fishing these same places and they are having the same luck. I'm really hoping that the bite is on soon because I am ready to have some fillets in the freezer.
A man is truly blessed, when he returns home from fishing to be greeted by the best catch of his life.

My Wife and I kept 27 today on Nimrod. We probably caught around 60 total. You just have to find what depth they're in and fish that depth around the lake. Worked for us. We caught all ours in the main lake. Tried in the river when the wind started blowing hard but only caught one. Most fish were scattered. Keep looking and Good Luck.

I've caught limits almost everyday for last 6 to 8 weeks. You have to move alot as they change alot this time of year. Seems like they were smaller last couple trips but bit more in afternoons the few I fished. Water temps are getting right and fish are scattered alot due to transition (fish looking for spawning sites and others stage'n) of couse that's just my opinion. The other evening I caught a limit in less than 1 1/2 hours suspended over brush. This lake is getting crowded because everyone looking for the spawn to begin. The limit I caught yesterday were just keepers. The males were very dark in their spawning colors but no worn tails yet.

My fishing buddy and myself caught 9 Sat and 15 Sun, Millwood, Shallow in a cove actually on beds. We fished other areas, Cypress in 2 feet, cypress in 5 feet with no luck. We were lucky to find them in that cove. On Sat we caught them by scattered stumps you could see just under the water in the shallow end of the cove. Sunday there was just one area of the cove with 3 stumps about 20' wide and 50' long that produced for us. We were using minnows and fishing 12 to 16 inches deep under a bobber. Dark colored males average 1 lb each. Other folks were catching them very shallow to some in 3' of water. Some were being caught with jigs, we just did not do any jigging where we were catching the fish. I have to build some deep water structure over there, I think we could have caught more if we new where there was some planted stuff at. All fish do not spawn at the same time.

Spawn has been going on about 3 weeks on Lake Erling have been able to catch good stringers about any way I cared to fish on bank staging off bank and a few on tops everything worked but seemed to change rapidly following weather changes but I enjoyed it all watched bass fishermen catching crappie yesterday and complaining about the crappie hitting and messing up their bass fishing to each his own.

I have found them on any type of structure you can find in 5 to 10 FOW. They are still are not smokin the jig as soon as it hits the water like they are spawning but are biting good here in scott.

I talked your cousin yesterday. He said they weren't far from his house. If he was was a really good buddy or cousin, he could put some fillets in the mail:D
