<<<Limb fishing---jugs-- yo-yo's should be banned for catching crappie. Nets and trotlines are already banned so why not go all of the way.
guess you can say I like to play fair and most crappie fisherman do also---Give the crappie a chance to avoid capture---stop the nets---trotlining---spider rigs--yo-yo's and jug fishing for crappie---capture by pole or rod and reel only.>>>
that will never work. way off the deep end. you will never stop yo-yo's as a legal way to fish and that brings the problem of teaching crappie to not bite a hook tied to a yo-yo or a hook tied to a jug. tell me how to do that and we both will be rich. you are trying to limit other fishermen's way of fishing. maybe those fishermen would like to start a campaign of taking away fishing poles to catch crappie or your way to fish for crappie. you'd holler like a pig under a gate. and limit or do away with spider rigging or whatever you call it? i don't do it cause i'm not rigged up to do it and don't plan on doing it but i won't say it should be banned. too many people love to fish that way. let'em do it. i've already stated what i think the limit should be in other places. 10 or 20 ain't enough.

Your are correct about the 2-3 limits of crappie caught a day. When a guy tells me he caught 170 in a day--If true how many other days did he do that.
I am not trying to change anyones fishing habits--The State will do that if enough fisherman contact them.---It is not about us--it is about our beloved state---our natural resources and greed.
I had a man to tell me he caught a limit and called his wife and had her to drive down and pick them up so he would not have them in his possession and so he could continue to fish and caught how many more limits.
Some may say it is not for me to question or complain if that is what you call it---But I have as much of the right to say we need reform and change things so we will have a future as any other Razorback.
The commercial fisherman have to earn a living catching Buffalo and catfish---nothing wrong with that---it is wrong when you catch 2-3 hundred crappie in a net and keep them.
Some lakes are designated for sportman fishing no nets period--it is not fun tearing up a motor in a net or spending hours trying to untangle it---many guys just cut their way out--what would you do.
Sorry to say I abide by the laws of the land and I want to do what is right----I bet many more will agree with my views than others.
By the way I did not start this thread justing adding my nickels worth---2 cents is gone---We can gentlly agree to disagree on topics.
Hope it never happens---but I am waiting on someone to get killed because of these issues and what we may call equal rights to privacy and the right to be left alone in his territory without someone being pushy and violating those rights.
Wright Patnam---A few years back--a man did get killed over the right to ones space when fishing---I do not move in on people because they are catching fish---I find my spot--my territory---I know a couple of guys around Millwood that will see your are catching crappie and move in with a bunch of yo-yo's and hang one from every tree in the same area. Some say that is alright--many will say that is a way to get a hole in your boat or worst and may be even some hide off some parts of your body. Being nice and courteous to people gones a long way.
By the way there is a few guys around Yarbourgh Landing that knows about these bass tournments and they love to put Yo-yO's in the places visited by the guys and mess up their day----They than go back to their beer cans- laugh and poke fingers when you get mad---that is fun to them----The fishing aspect is not a part of the game--it is messing with their heads and being hateful because they do not want the bass guys there so they disrupt them.
I'm a yo-yoer and a fisherman. I love to set out a couple dozen and then fish with a pole till dark and kick back and listen to em sing. I do abide by the law and will not move in on a guy's crappie hole. There are some yo-yoers that do NOT fish this way and people like me get looked at funny when seen tying up yo's. There is NO difference in me catchin a limit on yo's 2 or 3 trips than someone camping for 5 or 6 weeks catching on average 10-20 a day in my opinion.
You are only allowed 2 limits per person in possession. But once proceessed and store at your permante residence it does not apply. Campers or renters of condos , trailers, and cabins still limited to 2 limits till they take the processed fish home. So legally when camping a freezer with over your possession limit is illegal in Arkansas.

<<<I am not trying to change anyones fishing habits>>> this in your second post.
<<<Limb fishing---jugs-- yo-yo's should be banned for catching crappie. Nets and trotlines are already banned so why not go all of the way.>>> this in your first post. seems that's trying to change the way someone fishes.
<<<I find my spot--my territory>>> what would you say if you sat on "your territory" and caught a limit and i'm sitting across the bay from and you start to leave with your limit and i have 3 people in my boat and i pull in on "your territory" and set there and catch 4 limits of crappie. you gonna get mad cause we caught them in "your territory?" we did it legal. we did it with a pole like you did. did we do wrong because, as you know, it's public water not "your territory."
i say if it's legal let'em fish that way.
backwater, you are on a one man agenda to straighten out 100% of the fishermen. it ain't gonna happen. you can kick and fuss and call all you want to and lawbreakers will be lawbreakers and you will not stop them by making a phone call. it's in their blood and you aren't going to get it out of them.
It's not fun having a $300 net or a $100 trotline cut by some jackwagon trying to get back a $1 jig or $4 crankbait. They take food out of my kids mouth. Should I come to their office and start cutting phone lines and breaking computer screens? Probably. But I don't. I just keep hundreds of 2lb+ crappie a week caught in my nets that will never see the end of your line or your kids line and sell them for $2 each. Thanks for leaving the nice ones for me.
there you go. and eye for an eye. that's in the bible. nothing wrong with that. i get hung up in one i'll be sure to leave it like i found it. don't want my puter screen busted. how would i spend my days and nights?
oh, pm me how i can get hold of you to buy up a bunch of those 2 lb crappie.
I'll get you on the list old. Gotta take care of the GW's first of course.
And I'd never come bust up your computer screen. You don't seem like the net cuttin' type of folk to me.
Now Backwater Man...he seems like the type of feller that rides around a lake with 5 crank baits running and an open pocket knife handy...
Don't pay any attention to the dog. Cause he is yanking your chain. I think everyone should respect commercial fishermen cause they make a living culling out fish that otherwise could crowd out Crappie and other game fish. We don't like to have our costly tackle cut and try to keep it out of the way. Seriously , there may be some commercial fishermen that break the law just as some sport fisherman. But most commercial fishermen won't risk losing their lively hood as we have lots more regulations to follow and the man (WO) watches us more closely. One illegal game fish would cost a commercial fisherman his licence, tackle, truck, boat, and a big fine. Not to mention embaressment of losing all fishing rights along with his lively hood.
