Default Anyone use a hand controlled TM

Does any one use a hand controlled TM and spider rig? I'm looking to update my old 1994 boat.Looking for ideas and info on maybe putting in dual seat bases. If I have room, I think I do, I just don't know how for back to put them.

I has thinking about adding on to my deck and making it longer. But may not need to. Here is a picture on her, The big door is the live well and the other is storage.

    Picture in next post.

    Thanks for the help,

Get 2 five gallon buckets and set them on your front deck. Get a buddy to sit on one and you sit on the other one and you will be able to tell if you have enough room before you mount your seat bases.

    Slipcork,
I just took off a motorguide foot control, and put on a mg variable 55 .I think I'm going to like it better.I haven't had it in water yet.As for the two seats in front, that was the first thing I did with boat. Me and wife can both set in front. I scooted a new base out on each side of old one, I think it was about a foot. The bucket thing works great. I have a pic. of mine on last page of main forum, if you want to look.
    Thanks

Slipcork, I have used a hand control for years. Have a clamp on extinson handle. Started back in the 70's bass fishing. Never could master a foot control and liked to stand up when casting. Started crappie fishing about 5 years ago and found it easier when single poling to control boat. Just started spider rigging a couple of years ago. Only disadvantage I have found is making sure you have plenty of room when you mount your holders for the handle to be able to swing back and forth between them when mauvering. I also have 2 on/off switches mounted in the floor. One on each side of front deck.

That boat sure is wide for the length. Should be able to set two in the front easy.

    Hey Doug
I have a tiller type in my stick steer. It sure uncluttered the front of the boat taking the foot controll out. I installed a "Big Foot" button in the negative side to bump the motor on and off. I alos use an handle extension. Another advantage is I can actuall steer with the big motor while trolling. So, now I just lean back with my feet propped up on the ice chest and wait for a bite.

    Slipcork,
I just measured the width at base of seats. From side to side it is 63 in. and I had plenty of room. I'm thinking I came out 15 in. from center base to center of new base. I'll try to put pic on .

I use a co-pilot for trolling. Did the same thing as the others, got a buddy to sit beside me and mounted my bases then after i mounted the bases i mounted my trolling rigs to what was comfortable to us. The co pilot works really well when you are in the back doing something and like putting fish in the live well or rigging poles and you can control the motor and fish at the same time.
