Hey midnight - For what its worth I use the Wally World battery. For the price I cant complain. I have noticed that since I have been using my new terrova, I can troll all day and still have 1/2 charge when done. I think it have to do with the variable speed or something. I run it on constant on all day but at a slow speed.

I know robert! What size is a 225 series equivelant to?

I like the Optima's if for no other reason than you can just buy them and forget 'em. They are by far the most reliable I have ever used. I use two D31 bluetops for my 24 volt Terrova and over two day's of nonstop trolling pulling a 20' Triton I have never seen them fall below 50% of full charge. It takes one less worry out of the fishing equation.

Jigpoleed, the pro guide batteries are made at the same plant as trojan batteries. I think that there is a little price difference and warranty difference. Trojan is like the name brand and pro guide is the generic, I have ran the pro guides as well from conway tire and battery, they are a fine battery, nothing wrong with them at all, mine lasted for four years of fishing bass tournaments every weekend and fishing weekly. I just figured if the pro guide lasted four years I would try the trojans, and see how long they lasted. five years and counting now, and just as strong as they were the day I bought them. they are super heavy compaired to all of the competitors batteries, this is due to all the extra plates that the trojan and pro guide have. but that is the reason the life span and charge duration is so good. When I tournament bass fish, my trolling motor is on its highest setting from the start of the tournament to the end and these batteries have never failed me. MY OPINION PRO GUIDE AND TROJAN ARE THE ONLY BATTERIES MADE FOR SERIOUS FISHERMAN.

I had a Optima. One year and one month old quit. One month after warranty was up, pro rate started $130 for a new one. I ran 29's from wal mart for 5 years in my boat and finally one quit. Wal-Mart still warrants them for 12 months not the 18 month free replacement like old warranty.

Also, if you buy an Optima, you can not exchange them just anywhere like a wal mart battery

Just my two cents worth, there is good and bad in anything you buy.

    Good fishing

So what brand of battery have you had good luck with?
I use Everstart from Walmarts---I buy the deep cycles--about 80 bucks I think--that is for trolling---I could use a regular car battery to crank with but I buy all deep cycle in case I need a back-up--Plus I always carry a 3rd battery---I have been stranded before--it is no fun when the stores are closed or a long ways off.
