Okay guys--who fishes Texas side--I am going to buy me some out of state licenses and try it out. Have not fished there in many years. I hear you can fish in the channel off Rocky Point. I have fished 991 bridge or the old trash pile road as it was once called, not to far from Kelly Landing.
Any hints from you guys.![]()

Caddo, Lake of the pines, Toledo Bend are all good this time of the year. Catch the weather right and you should do well.
End of this month until the end of February the White Bass will be in the Sabine river. The White Bass fishing should be interesting this year with the low water. Good fishing!

I was up in Saline River and I saw a lot of fish jumping like crazy on both sides of the boat. I could have probably netted a few if I had a long handle net.
This was my first encounter with the white bass in schools like that.
My grandpa loved gar fish---I had a guy to show me how to cook them and they were great---Need medium size Gar not large ones--maybe 2-3 feet. Anyone ever eat Gar. If interested I can post the way I saw it fixed--Gar are a plenty in the lakes and rivers.
Hey Jim what up ole buddy??
dp, scale the pickerel and or buffalo fish. we called it fleecing the buffalo. fillet it but cut the fillet off at the tail and leave the skin on. cut the rib cage out and lay the fillet skin side down on the cuttin' board. cut the meat across the fillet all the way to the skin but not through the skin. do this all up and down the fillet every 1/4 inch. you can feel the knife cuttin' the "y" bones in the fillet. when you fry them that will cook the bones to where you eat bones and all. we called the fillets pig turds because they would roll up when frying like a pig turd. buffalo out of cold water can't be beat and the pickerel are wonderful. people cuss them and throw them back because they don't know how to clean them for cooking. hope this helps.
