The CrappieMasters tourny at Conway next year is looking to be one of the largest payouts ever for a State Championship. Deals are in work where money and prizes will be given, and the top prize is a good 'un!
I hope to see a lot more of the locals fish in it this year. Plenty of time to get paid up as the tourny is set for April 8th and 9th. Should be perfect to find those hawgs in and around the shallow flats!
I will post more details as they come available later this week when I can "officially" let everyone know of the prize payout. If I can be of any assistance to anyone, let me know by PM or you can call at 1-501-231-3374. Thanks.

Nope, it's a state championship meaning you can use live bait, artificial bait, one pole, spider rig, etc........basically deploy your preferred style of fishing as long as it meets AG&FC rules and CrappieMasters.
This format should open it up to all people not just the single polers.

Yep I'll be there and hopefully Dardanelle too, there is a eight pole limit you can fish with by yourself or as a team and only two baits on each pole. Going to be a fun one to be in. Hope to see more Arkansas guys in there this year too. CS and LR Joe are a couple that come to mind.

Billy, I would start on the lake that fits your style of fishing best and the water's you have confidence in, If your primary style is spider riggin then i would try to research which lake has produced well in tourneys in that style for example. Research the lake you are fishing, Dont be afraid to ask questions, and above all else give yourself time to pre fish the lake your about to enter a Pro Level Tourney on. The Crappie Master Pro's are very very good fisherman and when you enter a Crappie Masters tourney (don't let there be a doubt) you will be competeing agianst some of the best of the best. So put your game face on come Tourney Day. With that said Iv'e seen your post and think you have a good shot at doing well in any Tourney you enter Billy. Hope to see you out there defending Arkansas.![]()

Billy, a few points that may help you out and some things you won't have to learn the hard way like I did.
1.) Get a good lake map of any lake you plan to fish.
2.) Always, always, always pre-fish the lake at least twice making sure the weather pattern is close to what it will be during the tournament. In example, don't prefish Conway in July for a spring tournament.
3.) Never think the Pro's out there are any better than you are. Most of them were in your shoes not too long ago.
4.) Always fish with a partner. Fishing by yourself is hard to do in a tourny. You need someone launching the boat and someone driving the truck for example. To launch by yourself, dock the boat, get out and pull the truck up will create lost time. And two heads are better than one when trying to pattern fish.
5.) And the number one rule! In a tourny you are fishing for 7 quality fish, not 100 medium size ones. The biggest mistakes made, even by myself, are that when we go to catching fish we think we are doing great according to the numbers. I don't care if you've caught 100 3/4lbers, 7 of those will not beat the guy who caught 10 2 lbers. Concentrate on the bigger fish and leave the smaller ones alone.
6.) And the last rule, have fun! I've seen too many fisherman get stressed out over a tourny and loose all of their composure. It's a tourny yes, competetive yes, but its not worth stressing out over and having you and your partner arguing, etc., etc.
