Default First trip to Caney Creek

Well, I just got back from a trip to Caney Creek/Lake Conway. It was my first time out there and I have to say it's a nice little area to fish. Here's how the day went.

My brother and I arrived to the launch just a little before 7:30 this morning. The sun was just coming up and it was pretty foggy. We launched out and had our lines in the water by 7:45. We started jigging around and through the lillie pads. My borther was using a white headed jig with a pink and white body and I was using a two tone yellow and green headed jig with red eyes and a chart body with silver sparkle. Then about 8 in the morning, BAM, get a hit on a nice sized crappie. Boy I was getting excited. Hadn't been there 30 min and I had already snagged a good sized crappie. So we continue to work our way up the lillie pads and try jigging some more. We work our way around some of the cypress trees and out towards the open water. By then it was around 10 or so and we turned around to work our way back to the launch hitting the lillie pads again and also trying the opposite side of the channel. Still no hits. We worked our way back and forth for the rest of the morning and by the time noon rolled around the wind had picked up quite a bit and was just blowing us all over the place. That's when we called it. 4 1/2 hours of fishing and only one crappie. Ended up having several bites all morning but never landend another fish. I talked to a few people fishing around me and everyone was catching anywhere from 3-6 crappie in that area. All in all it was a very nice morning and really enjoyed exploring a new piece of water. Hopefully next week, midnight_f150 and I can hit that place again after work. Have to give a big thanks to CrappiePro for a few tips and tricks about that spot. Now if I can just figure out the trick to succesfully jigging, lol.

Here's a pic right after we launched the boat, the fog looked awesome against the water.

That's awesome CP! We will be out there around 4:15 or so. When I went saturday, I tried using crappie nibbles with my jig but still had no luck. I could definitely use some help with my jigging methods b/c apparently mine aren't working to well, lol. Look forward to meeting ya bud.
