    Default boat trailor titles

Hey everyone. I need some info if u got it. I bought a boat and boat trailor. I registered the boat but having problems getting license on the trailor. It has a vin number on it. The guy i bought it from gave me a bill of sale. The trailor has perminat license on it but the tags dont match the id number. Any suggestions. Have yall had any troboules in the past with this type of situation.

I brought the boat and trailer I traded in on my current fishing boat from Texas about 15 years ago. In Texas, the boat is titled and the trailer is simply registered. Needless to say I didn't have enough stuff to title that trailer. I had to step out into the parking lot and "build" a trailer to get a title and tags for a trailer I was about to trade in.
It didn't take me but about 30 minuets to build that trailer. I got the title and a vin sticker to put on it. Everybody was happy...no questions asked.

depending on what state you are in you can title a "homemade" trailer without much problem. i built two when i lived in mo. really built them from the ground up. when i went to get them titled i had to take them to a place where they inspect cars and trucks and get it inspected before mo. would title those trailers. of course coming from mo to ark and still being the owner i didn't have any problem getting it titled here since i had a mo title on it. and i'll be bringing the other one over fore long. in ark they may not even look at them. tell'em it's homemade and see. the doc did. and he's the doc.

All my trailers are home made. Easier to "build" one than find the titles.

I just bought a boat and trailer in Georgia and when I went to register and get license for the trailer, I only had a bill of sale for the boat and trailer. They told me they would have to charge me sales tax on the entire price on the trailer unless I had a separate bos for the trailer----there is no sales tax on used boats. When I get time I've got to get it done. PITA...

I have doing that myself. I bought a trailer from wright welding. I paid a under the table cash price that came with no paperwork. I told them it was homemade no question asked!
