I just strip the old line off, tie on the new and hit the rewind.

careful or you might damage the spring. It will get overly tight prior to getting to the end of a properly spooled reel.there is usually a tension release on the side to keep from overtightening the spring. Load it up with some Braided line before the fly line.Start pulling off old line and when it gets tight hit the tension release.(Probably a knoblike circle on the side. looks like it in pic 4.) pull out more and repeat the tension release. when you get to the end tie on some braid( perhaps dacron) and use the large dial to put tension on the spring. Hit the trigger and load some line. After you get some backing on the spool tie on the fly line and repeat til you fill 'er up.
