    Default Mixed Bag

Went jiggin today and wound up keeping a limit of Crappie . No big ones but atleast a mess. Also caught a few Green Carp, a Channel Cat and a about a 5 lb Flathead all on a silver/white 2'' umbrella tube jig. Man that jig pole got a work out. The most exciting was the Gar over 4' long. That bucks jig pole with 8lb test line held up even with it jumping clear of the water twice! I had to follow with my trolling motor and use pliers to land it. (would'nt fit my dip net). Hope to get a picture to post later.

I was at a seafood store in Baton Rouge a few years ago, and they were selling gar meat priced like it was good stuff and selling it. I may have thrown away a lot of good eating over the years.

You gotta salute anyone who can boat a gar like that That deserves some kind of award. Maybe someone should start the gar of the month award. That one would be in the running.

    Nice "smaller" fish too Nimrod.
