Not wanting to hijack your post but can you guess what type fish this is?caught it thursday on a 1/32 pony head with 2in. blue/white curly tail,8/1 HI-VIS yellow braid. After the battle and releasing it I had to find a shade tree to get under to cool off.I sent this picture to my fishing partner and told him it was a bass,so for I've gotten by with it lol.
    It's not a bass.:D

I am currently staying at a campground on Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs. Here to visit my daughters but will wet a line early in the morning. Too dang hot to do much fishing after about 10 a.m. The lake is just a few yards away so will try some bank fishing in the morning.

Well, I guess I'm a topwater for sure. A couple of friends, one of my sons and I were going bream fishing on Mellwood or some of the White River Refuge lakes this weekend during the full moon thinking we might get into some beds, but we have mutually thrown in the towell. It's just too hot. I don't mind getting hot while I'm fishing, but not in this. Those fish are sure lucky.

I agree its hot,a wet towel around the neck can get you a few more hours of fishing time.Caught 56 total saturaday, bass, bream and crappie from 9:30 to 6:30,the best bite came in the heat of the day.The other fisherman were not doing to good,I think its b/c they still fishing like they do in the spring time.In this heat if the bite is slow my go to lure is a arkie jig spinner #3,1/16 round jig head with 3in. curly tail.Thowed back several bream and bass, all the crappie were good keepers.
Just a reminder, from spawn the bait fish have grown up,sometimes a bigger lure is the key.In the heat they aren't chasing small stuff to get a belly full its to much work, however with a long pole with a small bait dropped down in their face they'll suck it in.All the fish were hot to the touch, didn't take lone for them to melt 30# of ice..
Saturady when I got to hot in one lake I'd load the boat and drive to another lake, fished 3 different lakes that day.The drive to the lakes was enough time to cool down under the ac to fish another 2 or 3 hours.

been catching a lot of good bream and a few crappie when i pass a tree top and drop a jig in but the last trip two days ago the bream had lost a lot of weight. never saw them lose that fast. i threw back several bigger than my hand because they were too thin already. the hot weather is taking a toll on them too.

I'm seeing the same thing ODH. The bream have lost weight. The crappie were a bit fatter. I guess they found the shad out in the middle of the lake.
