Me and my fishing Partner made this with multiple reasons in mind. it is very large, thats a electrical wire spool all the bamboo is attatched to. The structure alone is over twenty feet long and about 8 feet tall with lots of nooks and crannys woven into the canes. the whole spool is made of wood, the drum of the spool is hollow and we are stuffing it full of dog food before we sink it. That should get the bait fish and forage fish around it fast. Once the bait fish are there, all we should have to do is, fish and hope for a reason to break out the fillet knives .

If you're too busy to go fishing, you're too busy!
The weight of the spool takes it more than half way down below the surface, the 6 or 8 concrete blocks that will be attached to it should secure it to the bottom very nicely. I am sure it will be a slow sink, but once the spool makes contact to the bottom it should water log within a couple of days and the floating or staying in place should not be a problem. It really turned out alot larger than what We had anticipated. in the future We will be using smaller wooden spools. This one is a experiment, if it works we will rework the plans to make them smaller and more easily sunken.

Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

My crankbaits and spinnerbaits and plastic worms would get hung up on the wire. And them ole bass would pull me into the wire and break me off. Like I said this multi use structure. Hopefully this will help me win some bass tournaments as well as fill my freezer with crappie filets later In the year.
