I'd Prolly start out on the deeper docks sorta mid lake and fish in from there. If you cant find 'em there, I'd cross over and hit the trees and pads in the happy jack area. If not there either, troll on.

Leaving out for Horseshoe in the AM and we will be there until sunday. Plan to try the crappie a bit, probably try and locate some bream beds if we arent having much crappie luck. Havent fished there in a couple of years, can anyone suggest bait/tackle, areas, depth to start? Not sure if trolling, cork, jigs, minnows, etc is best there.
Anyone fished there lately?
Looks like the dang storms are moving in later this week though![]()

Sounds good, will give it a try. What kind of setup would be best you think? Seems like the last time we were there we just drifted (with lot of wind) with minnows in about 10' basically center lake and did pretty well this time of year.
My first time to the shoe was Sat'day with another guy which has been there severals times.Everybody that came by us wasn't doing any good,3 or 4 fish each, the trees, pads and trolling wasn't paying off for alot of them. When we loaded the boat several poeple looked in other live well and couldn't believe thier eyes,we had 50 fairly good size.Anyway we fished the same area alot of them had fished and we was catching one everyonce in awhile. We started out in the w. trees,nothing,pads,nothing.....the guy I went with is a 100% long poler and I'm a 99.9% casting nut.All my casting wasn't putting nothing in the boat.Out came my long pole with 10/2 power pro and I took a good at the lake and said less fish over there in them there wittle bitty tress. They where there but real tight againest the tree plus if you wasn't useing braid you'd never feel the small tick.
OK,Sunday,I had to work and he and another guy went back for more slads "LOL" they only caught 12 small ones. But said some where catching some large crackers in the creek.
Just b/c some are not catching does not mean they are not biting, will agree the bit gets stuff at times.By me going with someone else I didn't take all my tools of the trade with me.I think If I had put my flyrod in the boat I could wore them suckers(crappie) out with a trout fly.
My thoughts about the shoe is its not my type of fishing,to many poeple fishing in front or behind you or almost in the boat with ya lol,I think 5 or 6 boats is a crowd.
fished on the 18th of may came home with 50 fished the piers/docks. caught fish at 7 feet to 15 feet deep. bait was squirmin squirts 2 inch chartreuse sparkle from bass pro.
fish tight to piles very slow.
Thinking about hitting horseshoe on sunday. Has anyone fished it recently?
Fished over there on Saturday, May 29th. Caught some good fish trolling at 10 foot deep in the 13 to 14 FOW range. Watermelon/red flake tubes tipped with minnows. GO EARLY!!!!
