    Default Morgan Point

wife and i went to morgan point caught lots of white bass , small catfish and a few bream but no crappie water was a little high but had a good time.on the way to the ramp saw a game warden standing there didnt think nothing of it, he watched us load the boat and as i was tying it down he asked me why i didnt have the kill switch lanyard attached to my clothing.my response was i didnt even think about the kill switch, then he asked if i knew it was arkansas law to wear the lanyard while the motor was running,i said no i thought it was only a recomindation.well ,he showed me in the regulations and heres what it says.Kill Switch
For motorboats equipped by the manufacturer
with a lanyard-type engine cutoff switch, the
boat operator is required to attach the lanyard to
his person, clothing or personal floatation device
while the engine is in use.i said well i guess i know now he wrote me a warning because he said i didnt argue with him, well if you dont know theres nothing to argue about.by the way warden says fine is $240.00 thats alot of fish to pay for,so recon i'll be wearing it from now on

that was passed about 3-4 years ago, as I recall. After being with a buddy who got one of them trophies, I don't go anywhere in the boat without mine on my wrist.

I would have thought the river was WAY into it.

Thanks leadhead for the reminder, I knew the law but don't always think about it.

My lanyard and my whistle are both attached to my life vest. I run the whistle line up my vest to the top of the zipper and its always hanging there like a coach has his.

They both are attached to the waist band on the vest. Reminds me to put the vest on before motoring and to wear it while motoring.

Now, as for trying to start the stupid engine in forward gear and tearing the boat up to get to the starting battery and check the connections... well, you can't fix stupid. :D:D

I sure didn't know that was the law.
