    Default FYI Millwood

A friend of mine called tonight to say he fished the lake around the river at Jack's Isle. He is a die hard, go to the grave, minnow drowning old timer. He said "Six dozen minnows gone to about five dozen bass" he only caught 3 crappy's."Bass on the side of the cypress trees all of them " he says.

Just thought it was worth a post:

Well I'll be dang. I guess three of them didn't get sucked through the spillway during the drawdown this last winter. Ya'll just quit worry'n bout crappie in Millwood. I'll tell you when they get back in any numbers. No sense in wasting your time, just let me do all the work for ya. I don't mind sweating for a bunch of good guys like ya'll, doing all the samplin and such. Remember, one guy testing the waters is all that lake needs due to the shock it just went through. You guys will be hearin from me every once in a while with an update. :D:D:D

You may be joking Lip Ripper, but I'm about ready to give Millwood up if it don't improve real quick. I had to go to Dierks Lake last week to catch enough crappie to feed my starving family! Crappie are shallow and just busting with eggs up there, chart/white jig

    Lip Ripper,

I've thought about it and I just would not feel right about Forcing anyone to do all that lake checking on his own. It's a big lake and that might get into your actual fish catchin time some wheres else!We cant have that ..So let's split her two halfs. You do one And I will do the other .It's the only fair way I can come up with .I'm gonna start up at the top today and sortta ease down to Lewis slew and check there

Now that's a deal any sane guy couldn't refuse. Ok, so I told you guys I was going down this weekend. I fished hard in all the right places on Saturday and I mean all daggum day. I caught a total of 4 and they were all males. I fished jigs and minnows. Sunday, I ended up with 10 and 8 of them were over 2 lbs each and only two males this time. I fished the same area but used nothing but minnows. Seems like the water is just not right down there for some reason. Most of the time you can limit by noon with ease. No one else is doing any good either. A friend and his son went with me in a separate boat. They did worse than I did. Do yourself a favor and go where they are biting. Sure wasn't Millwood. Going again this weekend to see if it is any better. Will post it up if there is good news to share.

BTW - Alan is right, I can take it. But I am a lot better at dishin it out....

A friend that fished there last weekend said all his bigger fish had spawned. Were yours spawned out yet Lip? He also stated that something just wasn't right about the lake. Maybe the fish that were ready to spawn, did so in deeper water during the cold front.

My absolute bad "ALLEN". I was totally in the wrong for dimanteling your name like that. Please accept my most humble apology Sir. It shall not happen again. I get complacent in my typing and memory and suffer from CRS sysndrom in my years. I will work on a better repose and not create a diatribe over this.
