    Default Peckerwood

Planning to go to Peckerwood tomorrow or Wednesday, or both, depending. Anyone have a report on what's happening down there? Appreciate any information since it's a pretty long drive down there from Conway. Many thanks!

If you run yo yo's there should be a good bite on them right now. If you r pole fishing get up in the shady area's along the banks with buck brush, with a long pole and dip a Black, Brown, blue body tubes with a Chart or white tails, 1/32 oz head will catch some fish. Fish about two feet deep. Monster Bream in that place also. Good Luck Jerry

Thanks, Russ. Looks like it may be Wednesday, but I'll sure give your advice a try. I also have several cards of Meatgetter's jigs that he uses on Peckerwood with good success that I'm anxious to try. I'll let you know how I do. Wonder if Meatgetter has been up there yet this year. Haven't heard from him or Shimmy Shamrock this year about Peckerwood.

My bet is they are close to spawning as it's a shallow lake. My friend's used to yoyo early every year. But have friends that jig fish late summer when it's pumped down from irragation. I fished it late last summer and caught some poor post spawn slabs over 2 lbs. Should be a good spot to find a 3 lber. Good luck.

Decided to sleep in today and go to Lake Conway this afternoon. Checked the weather and looks like Wednesday won't be the day to go to Peckerwood! Still aim to get down there soon, hopefully one day this week.:D

Fished around Red Barn half a day on Saturday. Caught 20 crappie, 16 were keepers. They were in the grass and buckbrush. The water temp was 62 to 68 degrees. I was told they were spawning in the shallow buckbrush but everything we fished was 3-4 FOW, couldn't get back to the shallower water because the brush was to thick.

Thanks, Waterturkey. Looks like it may be after Wednesday before I head that way, unless they change the weather report. Thanks for the report and information. Glad you got into them!

Fished yesterday afternoon from 1 till 6. Two of us caught 15 crappie. All but 2 were males. They're still in the grass and buckbrush, but were scattered and most were just barely biting the jig. Water temp was 70-72 degrees.
