    Default horseshoe

Anyone have any luck at horseshoe lately. Have the fish started moving up into happy jack yet or is trolling still the best bet right now. Has anyone ever long-lined at horseshoe?

Horseshoe white caps with a 5mph wind, yesterday was not the day to be there in a small boat.

Did you mean '15 mph wind'? That's about what it takes there for whitecaps. I've fished it under those conditions in my 17 footer, but anything smaller makes for a long, rough, dangerous day.

No i didnt mean 15mph but I was being a little sarcastic, but only just a little.

That place seems to catch wind about as bad as any place I have ever fished. And ofcourse in another month the durned jetski's and play boaters will get thick making it even worse. Between the wind and the knuckleheads I usually end up with a case of high blood pressure so I just stopped fishing there.:D

Years ago a friend and I were fishing Horseshoe for the 1st time. We were in a small 14' Ouachita jon boat I had at the time when a front suddenly blew through with high winds. The waves came up, and I started in, but water was coming into the boat faster than we could bail it out. We barely made it to the shelter of a boat house before we swamped and were able to bail out the boat. We then limped along the shore using docks and boat houses to shelter us till we made it back to the landing. I got a bigger boat after that.

Me and a friend fished the piers today and caught 35 in about 3 hours. We were using red and chart jigs in about 10 feet of water. All nice size fish

    Default memphis slab

Were you jigging or casting. Memphisslab, do you fish the deeper docks towards snowden's or the shallower docks towards the southeast end.
Thanks for the update. Glad to know someone is catching at the shoe.
    thanks,

Horseshoe can get very ugly with any kind of south wind.
