According to the weather service forecast, Black River at Black Rock will be 13.1 feet by 7am tomorrow, so I would say it will be in the bays and lakes along Black River. Flood stage is 14 feet at Black Rock, but the River will be in those low lakes at a lower level.Quote:

Portia bay is muddy muddy,black river is out of its banks but isn't near as muddy as portia bay.

Burnt Cane is still muddy---yes, it is affected by the St. Francis. I drove out there yesterday. There were several boats, but according to the game warden, "They ain't bitin'"
Does anyone know at what depths the St. Francis starts getting into all the pits and lakes? Or does it differ with each one? I only have 2 days to fish and want to be on the best water possible 1st thing each day vs. driving from spot to spot to check water conditions.Quote:

I know flood stage with either river will be into probably every lake, slough, and pit off the corresponding river, but just wondered if anyone had payed close enough attention through the years as to what river stage started affecting their favorite holes. If I had my high school days to do over, I would have kept a journal of all kinds of info like this when I use to fish almost every week. It sure would be helpful now.
I've kind of told myself that if the river is in the holes I fish that isn't necessarily bad unless it is rising fast and really muddy. I've fished Tucker and Sunshine off the BR when they were really high but with good water color and fairly stable level and done ok. Actually, in that situation fishing structure on the bank was better bc so much more stuff was in water with 2-3 ft of water under it. I may be off on that.
Excited to come home and fish with Dad for 2 days. Wish it was longer.
The St. Francis at Lakecity is really high. The river stage is above 7.5 feet and was really muddy the last time I crossed it. I would think the fishing would be pretty tough there.
Black is on the up until sunday,suppose to start dropping than but we have rain again think Saturaday.Shouldn't be a problem with more flooding just take it longer to go down.(hopefully) Everything will be normal by the 12th and you and dad can have your pick of bays or rivers.If not and things are high and muddy pull this thread back up and I'll remind your dad of a spot....boy or girl.
Heard a really good report from Mallard this morning, might look into makin a trip there with the rivers all jacked up.
We just may have to do that. We have Mallard, Hogue, Poinsett, Ashaugh, Old Town I guess if everything is too high and muddy.Quote:
