still early
I went yesterday fishing based on a report that the crappie were starting to move into the shallow cypress around Jacks isle. Not a single bite in the shallows. Ended up going up river and fishing horseshoe. The crappie were very spread out holding about 10-12 feet deep on the outside of the channel. As the day warmed I figured it would push the fish a little shallower but it didnt. They held on the outside of the channel very spread out. Ended up with eight big slabs and one 11 inch. Took all day to get those fish. Avereage water temp in shoe was 56 and 60 in the shallows. Its still a tad early with the crappie in pre spawn mode.
