DrP, what is a Dana Max and where is Gold Creek on Conway. We have only put in at the AGFC ramp east of the Mayflower exit. Good bream fishin over in that area but havent done any good on crappie there.

    Thanks guys.[/QUOTE]

Gold Creek is the second time you cross Conway on the interstate headed north. From Mayflower, head north (on 65??). When you cross the lake the second time, you have just crossed Gold Creek. Just past the bridge, turn on the first dirt road to the landing. Dano will let you launch for a couple of $$ and sell you the dana max jigs for a few bits a peice. Cast them out about 1.5 to 2 ft under a weighted float. The jigs are micro light and this is just about the only way to fish them except long pole. This warm weather could bring them up shallow in the "pool". This method will work there too. Tell Dano that Dr Pepper sunt you and to fix you up with bait and poop. He will not steer you wrong. He should be posting by now trying to intice me to quit working and come fishing.

Is the "pool" the area there between 365 and I40? Bait and poop? Not so sure about all that. Seems like everytime I am in a bait shop the one thing there is no shortage of is POOP!! Atleast knowing this on the front end I can just wear my waders from the house.

Thanks for the directions, that will be easy for me coming from Maumelle, dont have to get on I40 at all.

Depending on how Overcup plays out Sat., might try Gold Creek Sunday afternoon.

Have been on the cadron from 65 towards the river several times, but have never crappie fished. If you go down stream from 65 far enough it opens up to a wide spot, kind of like a round pond or pool. I have heard that that use to be the place to crappie fish but something happened to the dam/spillway on the cadron and it let to much water out and ever since then the crappie fishing has not been has good. But that is all hear say, so if you go give us a report.

Atkins has been good, it was flooded with standing timber years ago and it has been groomed for Florida bass but crappie has made a comeback. Brewer I have fished a lot, but quit there cuz it was over fished I thought. May be better now. And yes, Overcup is an idleing lake.
    It ain't nuttin but luck.

Except for a little yellow bass about 5 inches long, I got skunked yesterday in the pool and in the creek. I can't sit too long from being so sore and had to get Dan to drive the truck up the ramp after I loaded the boat (drove on the trailer and was too sore to hop out).

Its gonna be picking up. I met CrappiePro and Bobberwater ... Bobber and I were there for about the same amount of time and CrappiePro was just pulling in. No one did real well yesterday, except in the morning, so I hear.

One good soaking rain will fix all that. I think they'll be out in the beds in another 10-13 degrees and it'll be on like WB's mouth.

Had some boat issues so we didnt get to leave until around noon. Went to Gold creek instead of making the drive to Overcup, wanted to check everything closer to the house. Boat worked fine, crappie not so much. We didnt land a single crappie. Two little yellow bass kept it from being a zero.

Went to Overcup right after we got out of early church and did even worse than Sat.:o:o Not a single bite much less putting a fish in the boat. Talked to a couple of folks and overheard a couple other boats and nobody had done squat.

It was nice to be back on the water though. Gotta do some work on a couple of reels and about to head to the house to try my hand at tying some jigs.

Talked to a guy at the boat storage place that said one of his buddies did pretty good sat. morning at cane or caney creek on Conway. Said they caught thier fish up in the creek in about 3 feet of water.

Man the back waters, creeks, and oxbow's of the Arkansas River around central Arkansas has yielded me the the biggest crappie of my life so far. It's allot of water, but man when you find the mother load, you will most likely have them all to yourself without another soul around.

I have fished the lower AR and White since I was big enough to hold a pole. I am much more in my element fishing the rivers than these lakes around here. But cant learn to fish 'em any other way than to go and stay after 'em. Besides it's still a tad early for Post, Merrisach, etc.

Will defintely be hitting the river around here though.
