    Default Central Arkansas crappie spots

Only been in Little Rock for a couple of fishin seasons and havent ventured out much yet. This spring is going to be exploring time. Hoping ot get some imput on Overcup, Atkins, Brewer, Barnett, etc. Stuff within an hours drive.

Thinking about taking the wife up to Overcup this weekend, we havent been there yet. Any scouting reports?

Was told last night that Overcup is similar to Conway, full of stumps and not a plce to be running on pad. Is that correct?

You may want to take an extra lower unit!

Lake Barnett is a very hard lake to fish and I have really never done any good on it myself..wish I did b/c it is only 15 minutes fromt he house. Overcup is my choice of lakes!

Have been to overcup only twice, but ain't brewer close to overcup? Maybe you could hit both at one time if you just want to see new water. I have never been to Brewer but have talked to some people who have fished it.

Yes, Overcup is quite stumpy, but a nice little lake. Its small enough that you really don't need to consider running on pad. Talk to the folks in at the bait shop. They are friendly and will tell you where the fish are biting, if they know. I've pulled some nice fish out of that lake, but have not been in over a year.

I don't think you will go wrong at Overcup. But, the flats in front of Dan's on Gold creek in Conway is my favorite place this time of year. Get some Dana Maxes from Dano and cast them under a cork on your light tackel. You just might get into some crappie or 3/4 lbs redears on the flats.

The crappie fishin has been down at Barnett for the last couple of years. I have fished it some in years past and I have an Aunt and Uncle that fish it regularly. It can be very tough but it can be pretty dang good too when you find 'em.

I have bass fished Brewer a few times with a buddy that lives up close to the lake but havent really tried to figure the crappie out. I know there is some really good crappie fishin there but it's another one that from what I hear is tough to figure out.

Thanks everyone for the comments on Overcup. Thats the call for this weekend.

Has anyone fished Cadron between 65 and the river? Had a guy tell me last fall that there was some steller crappie fishin there. Not sure where you go to put a boat in though.

DrP, what is a Dana Max and where is Gold Creek on Conway. We have only put in at the AGFC ramp east of the Mayflower exit. Good bream fishin over in that area but havent done any good on crappie there.

    Thanks guys.
