    Default Check It Out!!!

Fished Conway this past weekend, Had a local club bass tourny there, me and my partner did fairly well, 2nd place. I was all over the lake. The cypress trees looked like Christmas trees. I dont think I saw a tree that didnt have a yo-yo on it. There were a whole lot of big slab crappie hanging from them, you know the ones that the yo-yo cant even pull thier lips above the water. They were monster slabs. The sad part is I saw alot of waste going on. Small Crappie that was dried out and had been hanging there for a couple of days, and a duck that had wanted a minner, that was hung on a yo-yo. I have yo-yo's myself so dont get me wrong I aint bashing yo-yos. But however I am bashing people that do not run them and manage them like they are supposed to. I saw little Bass hanging from them dried up, and that really does anger me. Bass fishing is my passion, crappie fishing is just what I use to get thru the winter time fishing blues. I would not be opposed to some even more stricter yo-yo regulations, or banning them all together. I have had some very memorable yo-yo fishing trips. Its the people that do not want to put forth the effort to manage them right that will eventually ruin it for everyone. I guess what I am saying is, I wish people would not take for granted the awesome natural resources we have in this state. As with alot of the people on this forum, I have noticed that they have children that they mentor to , nephews, neices, sons, daughters, and grandchildren, when people take for granted the natural resource available to us, all I can think of is how they are cheating the next younger generation out of what so many of us have grown to love and enjoy. We really are blessed with some of the best fishing and hunting that any state has to offer. If people would do thier part to take care of it, it will be available for the next generations to enjoy. I know for a fact, I DO NOT LIKE TO SEE WASTE OF FISH AND WILDLIFE, AND ITS NOT FAIR FOR THE NEXT GENERATIONS. The future of fishing and hunting is in the hands of todays sportsman. WE HAVE TO TAKE PRIDE IN WHAT WE HAVE!!!

Well said. I too dont have the time of day for anyone who doesn't respect and appreciate what we have taken for granted. If you can't run yo yo's in a timely fashion, don't put them out, plain and simple!!

I agree 100%, if you can't run them responsibly, don't run em at all. That goes for all fishing related tackle, nets, yo-yos, jugs, limb lines, etc. Nimrod set a good example a while back when he was having to break ice to get to his nets, he still ran em every day.

I am glad that I am not the only one who feels this way about waste. I was raised with the rules, If you catch it, eat it, or release it. And don't shoot wildgame you aint going to eat or share with some one who will.

The bad part is when you see stuff like that is you know some do not know how to SET nor HANG yoyo's.I set and hang my yoyo's where the fish can not be pulled all the way out of the water. Some set their yoyo so strong they can pull 20lb cats out the water or hanging up high the wind has them spinning and swinging.I think most that uses yoyo's do not like seeing their catch hanging, dead or dried out.But heck alot didn't know how to use a jig pole either until someone showed them.Maybe us guys needs to show and teach the right way to set and hang yoyo's.
Yoyo's catch all type of fish, bait them for bream set them for bream, bait them for crappie set them for crappie, bait them for cats set them for cats.

I have mine set were as a 1 1/2lb crappie lip is barely seen out of the water.
