    Default What if

Everyone is talking about how much weight it takes to sink boo. What if you drill a hole at the top and bottom of each of the lower sections so there will not be any air pockets? Leave the uper section along. I think this will reduce the amount of weight needed and help it stay upright. I've not tried this yet, but think it will work.

Harold that should work. I've thought about doing the same thing myself. The issue is, if you're making very many of these 'boo buckets, that's a lot of holes to drill.

If you made 10 crappie condos....12-15 sticks of bamboo in each...drilling two holes per air pocket for just the bottom two chambers.....480-600 HOLES!

That's a lot of drilling....although possible to do.

Sixty pounds of Quikrete or two heavy-weight blocks will sink enough bamboo for one drop. Can't say a specific number because it depends on the size of your bamboo. Of course, the bigger the boo the more difficult to sink. If you think your boo tops might not sink, take several walmart sacks filled with 3-4 fist-sized rocks. If it doesn't sink, tie one on.
