I received my holders from Scott earlier this week and I wanted to see what ya'll thought. If there is something I need to change or improve let me know, I'm new to trolling and any help is appreciated. I've been once already and did pretty good for my first outing trolling. Thanks Scott for emailing me back and for making a great product and thanks to luvin.fishin for starting me off on the right foot. Here's a few pics.

Quit complaining about the color, just pull up your skirt and fish! -- snagged
Looks great Ben!! Remember the first time I saw your boat at Exxon in Hamburg I told you the only thing it needed was more Rod Holders!!! I'm going to Lake Washington tomorrow....will be there at daylight to start trolling in front of John Henry Slough. My Buddy from Crossett will be there too in his boat. Would love to see you over there.....If you happen to make it I will be in a white Triton with HITEK rod holders.

If it were me I would mount the holders in the floor close to your seat. As it is you have to stretch or get up to reach the rods. Most people like them within reach of there seat while sitting down.
For me it's comfort if not the day of fishing is not as fun.
Enjoy and looking like your on the right track with the Hi-Tek's

Couple 'o things there Ben. First, like SRed says, mount that forward rod holder in the floor to give you comfortable access without reaching or stretching. It doesn't have to be centered if you want easier access to the trolling motor. You can spread those rods any way you want. I really don't want the rod butt above shoulder height. I like 'em waist high. And the rod placements don't have to be symmetrical, just highly functional. When the bite is really light, speed in setting the hook sometimes makes a big difference. (That's another reason why those Hi-Teks are so good...I can get 'em out fast to set the hook.) Then move those side holders (I'd first replace 'em with Hi-Tek) further forward to allow you to watch 'em without having to swivel the seat. Sit in your seat and look straight ahead....all 8 rod tips should be in your field of view. Your neck will thank you later! And the seat can remain stationary. I know it may seem that you aren't covering as much area, but the area you ARE covering is saturated the way it should be. Using different lengths of rods helps avoid tangles. I applaud you on your choice of Hi-Tek holders and your decision to try spider riggin'. I don't think you'll regret it. That may have been more than a couple? LOL :D :D
