    Default Fall Crappie on Ouachita

Well boys and girls, the crappie are cooperating on Ouachita if you fish IN the brush tops. It was pretty much a steady bite all day long, using no. 4 and no. 6 minnows. I few were caught on a blue/white maribou crappie jig tipped w/ nibbles.

I was fishing wherever I could find brush in or near the main channel. I lowered a double hook drop-shot rig and held it even with the top brush. IT was a steady bite all day this past Tuesday. I was fishing out of Twin Creeks and even as far east as Denby Point.

The water was dropping a little but not enough to do any real harm to the bite. Tuesday, the lake level was at 578--about three feet above normal pool and the water was (of course) clear.

Have a ball and let me know how you do.

As most of you know, I've been left high and dry by soon-to-be Queen No. 2...and SHE took the good camera, along with about everything else and the budget is not much after paying the attorney--certainly not enough for another camera at this time.

I'm still not fishing regularly, (just don't feel like it, you know) but I will get back into it when I settle down from this mess and things begin to return to some sense of normal.

I'll probably wind up on a single acre of land living in a used fifth-wheel before this is all over; hail, who knows. But...I'll still have the BOAT! =D

I made my self pick up a rod or hit the woods even more often, and pretty soon all was right with the world agian. Oh yea, I listened to that Brad Paisley song about fishing, sure made me laugh and cheer me up every time I played it. I wish you the best and God Bless...

    Thanks a bunch CP,

It all just takes time. I DID miss a great looking 8-point three days ago. I'm gonna recover, but it is ever-so-slow. You know how it is.

I have two things going for me: I have that Peace that passes all understanding, and I have a clear conscience.

One day, when the time is right, the fish and the game will, once again, be a big part of my life.

I was reading something last night. This ole' boy moved his neighbor in with him and he said, within ten days, he realized just how much he liked living alone. lol lol

Your 'offer' (remotely) reminds me of a friend of mine that was hustling an ole' Indian gal up at Fort Smith. As the night wore on and the booze was generous, ole' Billy found himself wrestling with his new 'friend' in the back of his car. Suddenly she sat up and recoiled at the same time. She said OOOWWWWW!!! Billy, startled, said "Well, baby doll, what's wrong?" She said, "Oh nothin'. You just touched an area where my husband shot me." Billy turned white and promptly took her back to her car. He thought, if the ole' boy would shoot his own wife, that HE would be in one hail of a shape!!! I kid you not...it was a true story.

I think these women are like the fishin'. It will all come about in due time. lol I always get myself in over my head whenever I try to push open the doors. It's probably best to stand back and let them open naturally, if youknowwhatImean.

I actually thought about going fishing today but then thought better of it. Good thing. I got a knock on the door at 0800 am and it was my neighbor. She had hit a yearling and wanted me to finish it off. By the time I got there it was already dead. I red-necked that thang and I now have to do a little butcher job sos I can have a good meal tomorrow night.

A 90-pound yearling doesn't go very far, but it will be tender!
