If it was me I'd start at the mouths of the creeks and fish the idle water out to low current.I'd go a ways up the creek to check it out if a slow bite I'd go back out to the river and fish all points with slack water(check the inside bends too).
Been fishing black river the last few days and the bite is tuff to fair, gar are working like hogs in most all slack water.Yeah you'll catch a few gar but crappie are there if you know what color why want. What worked Saturaday didn't work today.Took me until 3 pm Sat. until I figured out they wanted a 1/8 Char. jig head with blue and white curly tail.I Don't know what color they wanted today but the gar sure loved pink and char. Also found out after fishing and fishing fan casting I could troll the same area and catch crappie.
