All my floats have been further up the Strawberry, but I don't know why that stretch wouldn't be good.

blairarnold your float trip further up was it done in a tin boat and was it a 1 day trip or two day trip, from where to where?

We put in at Peoples Bluff and took out at the Game$fish ramp south of Lynn, took almost two full days if you don't goof around.
The river was muddy and fish was not biting,6 of use caught enough for supper and caught nothing sunday. Our boat got hungup twice in log jams and I thought we were goners,,boat was trying to fill up with water.Bout 3/4 down the other two boats got hungup pretty good in a log jam,my boat just barely made it by.It took them almost 2 hours to get out of that one, they motored until they caught up with our boat. The boat we took we had used it the day before the trip, motor ran great. We all made sure the motors would start before we unloaded at the ramp, ours started but that was the last time it started on the trip.Had to paddle around the bad areas with a loaded boat and it took alot out of me,I'm TIRED but was a great trip.

I've floated several stretches from the Highway 167 bridge on down as far as the Highway 115 bridge, and sometimes putting in or taking out on private property. We were always in a flat bottom boat though a canoe might be better on some of the upper stretches. Don't recall having problems with log jams, but I guess that ice storm last winter could have sure put a lot of trees and big limbs in the water as it sure put them all over the ground in that area. My floats were all one day floats, but on one of them you have to paddle or motor through the holes to do it in one day.

we always float froma low water bridge just west of Poughkepsie to the low water bridge just to the west of the highway about a mile out of town on the road to imboden. Took all day but was a nice float with pretty good fishing .
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.
