    Default Caddo River Trip

Got back from a three day getaway to the Caddo River what a great place to spend some time with your loved ones, stayed in Glennwood right by the banks, found a little place called Veronikas very nice and clean, well now to the important things FISHING, I was very dissapointed with the fishing caught one Large Mouth about 5 inches and five or six Bream can somebody give me some pointers as to how to catch some Smallmouth Bass or where would be a good place for information I plan to return in September.

    Thanks

you should take a float trip from Caddo Gap to Glenwood. That river is over fished! It used to be a great smallie river but it get too much traffic now. There are some good smallie in it but be sure to catch and release.

You might try a float on the Glenwood to Amity section as well. I think stretch sees a lot less traffic. It is a much slower float, but should be good for fishing. You should probably plan for an all day trip if you plan to float and fish this section.

last time I went there was a 3 pound smallie in every set of rapids. of course that was 35 years ago.
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

Glenwood to Amity is the better float to fish. The river gets a ton of traffic, but most of if is just floaters, not fishermen.

Roostertails, plastic crawfish, and deep diving crawfish crankbaits work pretty well.
