My son and I went to Lee this morning and fished till noon. We kept 30 good sized crappie and turned a lot loose. We were trolling 10-12 ft deep in the middle with Orange/Char and Blk/Char Bobby Garland Strollers. The bite was very light and had to really watch the rodtips close. Boat traffic was horrendous. We tried to put in at Warfield Point so we could get to Paradise but the ramp was closed. We thought about going on into Greenville and putting in at Ferguson or back at the Greenville bridge but decided to go to Lee instead. Boat traffic would have been nil on Paradise.......maybe next time!

We were in my 1654 F&F. The Triton is being rigged up with all new fishfinders, trolling motor, and some other stuff at a boat shop and they aren't through with it yet. I'll be putting HiTek rodholders on it myself when I get it back. I'm hoping it will be ready to roll and troll within a couple of weeks. It will be nice to have a boat that isn't shorter than my longest trolling rods!

I tried to fish Tunica Sat, and it looked like the fleet for the Normandy invasion. Never seen that many boats on the lake. Caught a few, but it was a challenge.
Nice catch. Sounds like you guys had fun. Down here in Ga. I think people are beginning to tire of tubing/skiing. The boat traffic usually slows quite a bit after the 4th every year and you can see it's slowed again this year. Fishing is usually good up until about noon on weekends then the pleasure boaters start showing up. But hey...I guess those kiddies need to have their fun too.Congrats on your trip.

I just keep the drags set light and pull line out while raising the rod tip and it brings the fish right up to the boat......becomes automatic after a while. I usually use two 18' tightline specials straight out to the sides, two 16' Capps & Coleman's in the front and two to four 16' Prostaff's in the middle spots. That lets me cover about 40 feet of water. If I sold the F&F I would just buy a smaller boat to get into places the Triton won't go. Which is what I may do because believe it or not, there are some places I can't really get the F&F into real easily at times. Sometimes a 14-15 footer with a 15 hp motor is just the ticket. Plenty of rod holders and a hand-controlled TM up front would work well! I have a buddy in Crossett who trolls who will carry chest waders when he has to get out and pull his flatbottom across the shallows to get into a certain fishing hole during low water. A larger boat like the F&F would be out of luck.

Oh I definitely believe it! I did exactly what you're talking about except I use a 54# thrust foot controlled trolling motor. Went to ALWELD and got a 14x42 flatbottom with the front deck for really tight places and put an 18HP Nissan elect 4-stroke on it. It's under 400 pounds total weight and I can drag it without too many problems if it's slick. Save the glass boat for open and rough water trolling.![]()
