Now that's REAL crappie fishing Bill ! ! ! ! You would leave me in the dust if I had to fish with one pole! I would stay hung up more often than not! We just drag'em by'em in the open water and see what takes a notion to bite. My son and I hit Lee this morning and fished till noon. We caught around 20 crappie but only 15 keepers fishing the middle. We did have some good entertainment on the South end about mid morning when we started hitting the shad schools with an ultralite and catching those 12" stripers as fast as we could throw'em out. We got bored with that and went back to fishing for Crappie but they were just slow with trolling......don't know how they were doing in the trees. BTW, I just got a 20 ft Triton that I am rigging up for Crappie for when I go into bigger waters. I just got tired of being bounced around so much that last time I was on Darbonne! It's got a 225 Mercury so I will have to start paying out the nose for gas....but I am thinking about changing it out to an E-Tec for the gas mileage.
    From the ARK-LA-MISS Delta....... Crappie Paradise ! ! ! !

Hey Steve...Getting hung up in that type of cover is part of the game and it's still fun to fish it. The crappie will hang you up as much as you do it yourself. Congrats on your Triton acquisition! Steppin' on up huh? :D That E-tec is a good motor but don't rule out Mercury! My Optimax is surprisingly easy on gas and oil. I use much less with this 150 HP pushing my 20' glass boat than I did with that carbed 125 HP on the 17' red Nitro I had and I still go plenty fast! I am rigged for crappie trolling in open water with it and don't get bounced around a whole lot (Even with the water sports enthusiasts making those wakes!). I use my 14' Alweld flat bottom aluminum in that heavy structure on Lee and other lakes where I can't launch or use the big glass boat. Works out well for my kind of fishing. I love that slow trolling too ! ! ! :D :D :D Probably the most relaxing style of fishin' there is in the crappie world.
