    Default Lake Lee report

Mississippi river's falling fast @ 1-1.5 feet a day and it's still in the lake. Even so, I brought home 8 crappie Monday after 5 hours trolling, 27 crappie Tuesday jig fishing the brush and trees on the edge of the lake and 24 crappie today doin' the same. Up to 15" crappie yesterday and today with about half of them being very nice (13"+) fish. Good times and fish were to be had for all today!! Goin' again tomorrow! :D

I may get over to Lee this weekend, Bill. I have been hearing rumors for the past week or so. My son and I did pretty well last Friday in Paradise.....Caught an ice chest full of slabs along with 12 lb and 20 lb white-meat buffalos. I went back on Sat and only managed 8 Crappie by noon...but they were grownups! It will probably be a tossup between Lee, Kate, and "The Rockpile" below Eudora on Sat. Has anyone tried Grand lately??? It may be ready again...
    From the ARK-LA-MISS Delta....... Crappie Paradise ! ! ! !

Guys, heading to Chicot on Sat to do some catfishing with the inlaws. I will indeed have my crappie equipment in the boat. I know where paradise is located, as well as grand. No idea where Lee is located, but assuming it is rather close to chicot?

    allen,

Lake Lee is just southeast of Lake chicot. It's about a 30 - 45 min drive from the state park at chicot over there. it's on the other side of the Mississippi, but it's between the levies. you can find it on google maps real easy, just follow chicot around south & you will see it south of chicot. there are some pilings there and some have brush, some not. you can do a google search to find them. there is a launch on the north end of the lake that is pretty easy to find. hope that helps.

Thanks buddy. Just for that bit of information, I will not mention that you sold your crappie rig and bought a bass rig.

about 8 miles or so south and inside the levee on the miss side. the way the river is falling out, the paradise ramp may be mudded in by saturday. risky. you'd have to put in at the bridge and motor a long way back up-river. Lee should be leveled out by sat. Cross the bridge, go right on the bypass highway and take a right on deerfield road to the end and over the levee. there you are. good 4 boat concrete public ramp.

Caught them on a 1/16 crappie jig with 6# line. We hung four buffalos in all that morning but only managed to get two in the boat. One of the ones that got off would have easily gone 30 #'s! He ran off the hundred plus yards of line on the spinning reel and broke the line. My son played him for about 20 minutes before that happened though. I guess they rub up against the line or the jig and we see the pole quiver a little thinking it is a Crappie. When we snatch it up they are snagged in a fin, tail, side, ect.... Those sickle hooks don't play around....Sharp!!! We catch quite a few buffalo in the river lakes that way.....we just look at it as a bonus!

    Allen,
I spoke with an ol' timer a couple of years ago about paradise, and his advice was to follow the river level at arkansas city. He said paradise usually wasn't good unless the miss. river was over 18ft @ ar. city. he also said if the water was coming in, you need to go to the back of the lake, and if it's falling out, fish close to the ditch draining out of it. I've only been once, & it wasn't productive, but the water wasn't right @ ar. city.

I must confess that i did sell the crappie rig, & bought a 93 Javelin w/ a 200 hp evinrude. it's been a project boat. I finally got funds to do a lot of work to it, replace carpet, new bucket seats, & came across a deal getting clear coat on the top cap 'cause it was eaten down to the metal flake. I'll post some pics soon. I wanted something to take on bigger waters like greers, degray & ouachita. I have been able to crappie fish out of it also, but it's a big battleship, & harder to navigate through cypress trees. I can also bass fish out of it, and also take the kids tubing too. still have a lot of work to do on it, but I think i made the right move.
