    Default Beaver Lake guys?

    Guys,

I have been spending 6-8 weekends at Beaver per year for 24 yeears. Now the first 15 I was an aspiring Bass Master, now with age and slower boats I enjoy crappie fishing. I have never been able to locate any crappie in our part of the lake (Cedar creek and Fords creek). I have caught them up river from War Eagle but w/o the 65 mph boat don't want to make that trip. I know they are there because I have picked up a few Bass fishing over the years. I watched a show on Midwest Crappie with J.T. and watch this board often but just thought if you had a tip or two for the part of the lake I'm in it would be greatly appricieated. I'll be headed down for a couple long weekends soon would like to try something new.

    Thanks,
    Pat

The water is much clearer in those areas compared to up the rivers, so fish deeper and also use minnow colored jigs or minnows. Also use lighter line or florocarbon line. In Fords creek I tend to fish the pole timber during the mornings, and usually do OK, but I know the White river much better, so I usually stick with it. One trick that really worked this past summer is to fish under the boat docks during the hot part of the day when the sun is high. I caught many limits last year doing this, and I am sure that it will work again this year.

I've caught crappie trolling on the flats out in front of Beaver Shores, which is right below the HWY 12 bridge. That's about as close to where you're at that I have crappie fished.

I do well early in Shadux and Ventris around the standing timber. That is about as close as I fish to Fords. Try either a white or a black/chartreuse tube or curl tail. A minnow will also work. Fish either from the bottom up in 25 to 35 feet of water.

Under the 12 bridge is the easiest and most productive as of late.

Well what a bust! Last weekend we arrived at the house to find the well pump out and spent all of my fishing time working on it. Then this weekend my wife had to work so didn't have much time to fish. Will try all the info you guys have offered next trip in a couple weeks.

New question: Like said well pump went out so now I have 400' of 1" pvc pipe laying in behind the house. You know what I'm thinking? What has worked well at Beaver? Up here we use stake beds in 20 FOW. Any tips?
