Date night 11/14/15
My wife, son and I decided we would go on a date sitting over my foodplot this afternoon. The wind was PERFECT! The food plot is thickening up and everything was just perfect. My 3y/o son was very still and quiet! I have to take him to the deer stand for him to act right. First deer of the evening stepped out at 74yrds. Big old fat loner doe. Had no babies with her. I'm in buck mode but when I heard my son say "Take her when your ready." I didn't argue! He has never seen a deer shot in real life but plenty on TV, so he acted like he knew exactly what was going down. I squeezed off on the trigger, BANG/FLOP! Feet stuck stiff straight in the air. My son was so excited, opened the door and ran to the deer yelling "Good shot DADDY!" Tears came to my eyes as I have had this same experience with my dad who has passed. Thankyou God for this beautiful country, freedom, resources, and capabilities to have these kinds of opportunities! The outdoors is so Awesome! I don't understand anyone who does not like these things. My son is learning so many of life's lessons and is coming along so quickly! I couldn't be more proud! We processed the deer right in front of him and he was really concentrating. Then we threw some fresh back strap in the grease and had a gorgeous dinner! He even had a hand in on planting the foodplot as well. Discing in the tractor and hand seeding the dirt. This year he has seen the entire process from start to finish. Ground prep/planting/the hunt/the kill/the processing/the eating!
