Im no winter time expert, but I caught 40 crappie 2 days ago, from the bank in 6 foot of water, and the fish were maybe 2 feet deep down. If jig went deeper than that, would not get a bite. If kept around the 2 foot range, game on and FAST! Just telling ya what I had experienced, so maybe you know of an area with similar conditions, and try that. Never know until u try.
