Ran across the old man in a blue jump suit again. He was wearing the short sleeved one, so that means the spawn will not be long. I asked how he'd been and he said he had been holding close to home with the ice on so had decided to tie some jigs like he had seen others do. He said, "I don't need them cause I catch all I want with a minner and there really ain't no need of cluttering up your tackle back with such nonsense, so you can have them". He also threw in a package of hooks "just so maybe even you can catch a fish".



I asked if he had caught any fish and he said "a few" and told me to look in his cooler. So I had to ask how he caught them. He said minner under a float 18 inches deep by a culvert coming out of a field draining ice run off. I asked where and that's when he gunned the ole 76 Ford, long wheel base, 2wd, that he had bought new in 76, and threw mud everywhere. I need to GPS that ole codgers truck.
