    Default Ironfeather

Please excuse me if this is a subject that has already been visited. I watched a video from Fishanything and he was using Phenix Ironfeather braided line and some of what I saw on Amazon showed some that was 3 lb rated. Just peaked my interest as I have most of my reels with a Varivas product already. It’s not been on long enough to turn it around yet or wear out, but some of the color is fading on some of them. So what do ya know?

Tried it...nowhere close to a Varivas PE in quality. Plus it is not 3# test...it breaks at 6#. Their packing states it has a gou rating of 0.3....which will break at 6 pounds. Their packaging also states the diameter is 0.05mm. That would make it break at 4.5 pounds. As I have stated before I have never come across a true 3 pound test braid. It would be so small you could not see it. The smallest line I have seen has a gou rating of 0.2, it will break at 5 pounds. There is some line with a gou rating of 0.1 that breaks at 4 pounds. I don't think anyone could see line that small with a diameter of 0.054.

Thanks Randy. I figured that one of us had done their due diligence. I’m happy with the Varivas I’ve been using, probably won’t change.
