That does mean light. But it means light for an Ajing rod. Japanese rods are made for a specific specie of fish. An L designation on an Area trout rod has a complete different action. I’ve seen medium light Area trout rods that are what most would say is an UL. The rod you ordered is designed to catch a fish that has an average size of about 7 inches. But requires an extremely sensitive rod to detect the bite. When it comes to fishing gear the Japanese just take it to a whole another level. Only fair to earn you that most who go down this road will not stop at one rod…LOL. I have stopped, for now anyway as I’m spending a ton of money to get my house like I want it and add a few things to my boat.
