    Default Un-obtanium!

Hello all, so it's that time of year after the fizzles of bluegill spawning season wear off, it's time to browse the internet for more rods WE don't necessarily need....lol. As most who saw some of my post I frequently dabble with baitcaster, namely Abu Morrum vintage reel, but I also own a Shimano Currado bfs for which I thought of getting a travel rod for. I've recently received 2 new travel rods from over-sea: Major Craft Trapara telescopic and a recent Palms 4pc Quattro, which double as a casting rod because of its versatility, so the urge is still there. I came across a beautiful looking 5pc Fenwick that is only available in JDM on-line site and thinking "Wow, the price!!". Fenwick rods seem a dime a dozen in the US from Big 5, Dicks Sporting good, just to name a few stores, available from $60 to $150 but this particular travel UL is no where to be found let alone considered affordable. Like Alphahaw had pointed out many times, UL rods of good quality are hard to come by domestically and for that unobtainable they seem to be. Nice looking rod !
My favorite UL casting rod I bought by mistake.
It’s an Abu Garcia Mass Beat 3 5’6” UL.
    I thought I was ordering a 5’6” UL spinning rod .
At the moment it wears a Zebco 33 mini-cast .

Very cool looking rod. One of the Fenwick signatures is the ribbon wrapped in a diamond pattern or whatever they call it. I remember it from years past. Looks just like fun to me.

The Fenwick does have some blink to it, personal taste aside, Gill. However considering it's price being very close to a Tenryu rod, I'd have to pass for now. If I'm seriously pursuing stream trout in the future I'd might even look into Smith and Palms Egeria as well.

Skeet, it seems you know your fishing rod very well. After a little search you are right...Fenwick design does show off its trait. Me, I'm just drawn into its vintage look, almost like a collector item kind of look.
