Met my buddy at a boat ramp on a creek arm and the water was just too muddy and the wind was terrible.
The ramp was extremely busy .
We fished for about an hour , I tried a couple of flyrods without any takers , while my buddy caught a small gill and a small bass on a roostertail.
We packed up and moved down the main lake where the water was stained but fishable.
I continued my flyrod fishing , but unlike yesterday, nothing wanted my bugs .![]()
My buddy catches another gill on his roostertail and I swapped over to my 6’3” Abu Garcia Mass Beat travel rod , Daiwa Fuego LT 1000d and 2# line combo and Trout Magnets .
Within fifteen minutes I’d caught up with my buddy’s fish total and passed him..
Another ten minutes and I had him doubled up.
That’s when he went for his Trout Magnet rod and proceeded to put a whopping on me when it was over . I caught fourteen total and he had twenty four .
But I had the two biggest fish of the day including a 3# spotted bass that put up a battle .
I lost two that I know were bass , one of them cut my line at the loop in the jig with its teeth .
We caught bass , assorted gills and sunfish , and crappie .
Here’s a few of my catches.
BTW the temperature was in the mid 80’s today .
