Not wrong but that way adds a lot of hardware in the wrong place, to most folks way of thinking. My thought is that the weight so close may change the action of the spoon. I have a few ball bearing swivels that I use about two feet from the bait and have watched some gills pay attention to the swivel.

When I start seeing that more often than not, and they act like your lure is not even there, I grab one of these little guys. No fly rod, just run a few feet behind a weighted strike indicator. Almost seems like cheating OR maybe just getting even!
